If there is anything that sets Alaska apart from the rest of the US, if not the world, it is its art. Art is everywhere in Juneau. And the best thing? You know what you are looking at (unless it is the high-heel shoe in front of the museum — more on that later).
Island Pub Front Entrance
The remarkable thing about this stone parquet is its durability. I have seen similar work done in Columbia, Missouri with disastrous results. They look good for a couple of years, but the extreme heat and cold conditions eventually break down the grout and the pieces slowly break loose. This work in front of the Island Pub, however, has endured for years.
Like much of the art in Juneau, it reflects the world we live in.
